Learn exactly what you need to
know about Microsoft Excel to work at an accounting firm

We'll take you from beginner to proficient in 2.5 hours

"After only 20 minutes of instruction, I was actually getting compliments at work on my Excel skills."
CHELSEA B.

This course is for you if:

  • You are about to start, or you're currently in your first two years at an accounting firm.
  • You feel a little shaky about your Excel knowledge.
  • You don't want to waste time with random YouTube videos.

This course is not for you if:

  • You're going into a sales role at your new company. We're not salespeople, we don't know how they use Excel.
  • You're looking to learn VBA or macros. This is not that course.
  • You like spending your evenings (or your last summer ever) watching YouTube videos about Excel.

Meet Your Instructors

Ben Bates

Ben is your main instructor in the course. And that's because he loves Excel more than anyone else you know. He graduated from Texas A&M with an undergrad in Accounting and a Master's in Management, and has worked in both Big 4 Accounting and fund investing.

Aaron Francis

Aaron mostly stays behind the scenes in this course. He graduated from Texas A&M with an undergrad in accounting and a Master's Degree in Tax. From there, he went on to work in the tax department at a Big 4, but after spending a little while there he decided that accounting wasn't right for him and left to be a software developer. He now works as a data analyst for an IT security company.

He also once made that game Snake in Excel.

Ok... And?

That's who we are, but why does that matter?

It matters because we've been where you are. We've been in Big 4 Accounting. We know what's expected of you and what will make you look like a competent, capable first- or second-year associate.

Let's face it, you're going to work at an accounting firm, and they're going to expect you to know Excel.

There's no reason to be afraid of Excel.

There's no reason to hate Excel.

We've spent more than 10 years playing with Excel, learning formulas, reading books about it (yes, really) so that you don't have to. We've taken all of that knowledge and distilled it into the bits that actually matter.

Life is too short to spend your weekends reading Excel books (unless you're Aaron).

Let us cut through all the complexity and teach you enough to earn the respect of your peers and your bosses.

What We'll Cover

Module 1: The Basics of Excel

  2. Learning the Controls: Redux

  2. Summary Formulas
  3. Text Formulas
  4. Boolean Algebra
